Detaching Aircrafts at the 45th Infantry Division Museum

Utilizing a Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2 mobile hydraulic crane, Northwest team members
Kevin Piersall and Nathan Murphy worked diligently at the 45th Infantry Division
Museum in Oklahoma City, OK readying antique war aircrafts for transport.  The LTM
1070-4.2 crane was configured to hoist the aircrafts at a max radius of 125ft and was the perfect crane for the job.  The compact size of the LTM 1070-4.2 made it ideal for the tight space requirements needed to maneuver the outdoor exhibit. Northwest worked closely with Whisler Aviation, an aircraft transportation company, to carefully pick each aircraft and precisely swing it to the load out area. The antique aircrafts also required specialized rigging. The Northwest team used synthetic nylon endless slings in order not to damage any of the museum’s delicate artifacts. All of the aircrafts will be transported to a facility in Newcastle, OK where they will be refurbished before being placed back in the exhibit.
