Choctaw Water Tower Erection

Northwest team members Travis Vowell & Chase Woodruff completed a water tower construction project in Choctaw, Oklahoma.  They utilized Northwest’s Liebherr LTM 1220 mobile hydraulic crane.  Each tower section had to be held in place with the crane while welders worked to secure them to the tower, the crew worked with a max tip height of 197ft. Local traffic had to be diverted in order to transport the oversized components on to the site, and to rig the crane up with 97,00lb of counterweight. With the cooperation of the City of Choctaw and Northwest’s in-house safety engineers, a plan was formulated which maximized the safety of pedestrians and decreased the amount of time the road closure effected local traffic.
